Santa Fe Hot Springs: Soak in the Healing Waters

Santa Fe is a sanctuary of wellness against a backdrop of an enchanting backdrop filled with crisp air. Beyond the excitement of the art galleries and adobe structures in the Plaza lies a local hidden tradition: our transformative hot springs. Hot springs are a rejuvenating experience connecting mind, body, and soul. Imagine returning from a day of winter adventures, your muscles aching from skiing at Ski Santa Fe or hiking the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. A healing ritual will be calling your name and the hot springs will become a natural part of your daily routine.

The Healing Benefits of Hot Springs

Before modern spas, Native American and Spanish settlers looked to hot springs as a profound source of healing powers. Some would even call them liquid medicine as they are packed with minerals like sulfur, calcium, and magnesium, and offer remarkable health benefits. Melt away your muscle tension and improve your blood circulation as your stress dissolves like mist. Santa Fe hot springs are like a full body promoting relaxation and reducing stress.

Jemez Hot Springs

Natural spring in Jemez Mountain

40 Abousleman Loop, Jemez Springs, NM 87025 | (575) 829-9175

Jemez Springs is a hidden gem tucked away in the Jemez Mountains. Also known as Giggling Springs, the pool temperatures range between 98 and 105 degrees and are free of harsh chemicals and the sulfur smell that some hot springs are known to have. Take a day trip to explore the Jemez Mountains and make a pitstop to the bottom of San Diego Canyon to soak in the springs. Walk-ins are welcome and you can purchase one hour or two hour passes to explore the property or soak in the hot springs.

Spence Hot Spring

Another popular spring in Jemez Mountain is Spence Hot Spring, located 5 miles north of the Ranger District Office and a short hike from the paved parking area. Typically, this natural spring has maintained a temperature of 95 degrees, but over the last few years has been a warm spring maintaining body temperature. This is a natural spring, so it is important to keep a few things in mind: look out for poison ivy, don’t get the water in your nose, and always respect the surrounding areas.
